Dead animals dumped in Meniko spark outrage and investigation

Date:

Dead animals were found dumped in an open area in Meniko.

For several days, numerous dead animals have been lying near a pig farm in Meniko.

Speaking to SigmaLive, community leader Andreas Kalogirou stated that the relevant authorities have been notified and arrived for inspections. He also noted that there is a sewage leak in the area, causing a foul odour. “Once they died, they should have been sent for incineration. Instead, they were dumped. This is a crime,” he emphasised.

She added that, under her instructions, teams from the Department of Environment and the Veterinary Services have been dispatched to the area to address the situation in coordination with the Community Council. “Officials from the relevant services are in communication with the Community Leader,” she concluded.
