Cyprus wildfires: Police announcement on road network

Firefighting forces continue their efforts to extinguish the massive wildfire that broke out yesterday in the Limassol district.

Due to the fire, the following roads remain closed to traffic:

  • Trimiklini – Laneia – Alassa
  • Alassa – Lofou
  • Kantu – Kyvides
  • Agios Ambrosios – Vouni

Drivers wishing to travel from Limassol to Troodos can use the Palodia – Paramytha – Gerasa – Kalon Chorio – Agros route. For the return journey from Troodos to Limassol, they may use the Saittas – Agios Mamas – Apaisia – Korfi route.

Police patrols continue to be stationed in the following areas:

  • Palodia junction
  • Apaisia junction
  • Monagri junction
  • Trimiklini–Agios Mamas junction
  • Kouka–Pera Pedi junction
  • Pachna–Omodos junction
  • Kantu – Kyvides road
  • Kantu bypass junction
  • Erimi–Kantu junction
  • Road towards Kouris Dam (Vounaros area)
  • Saittas

Citizens are urged to follow the instructions of police officers, as many areas are still considered inaccessible or dangerous due to flare-ups or fallen electricity poles on the road.
