Cyprus wildfire: Road network update

Date:

Firefighting forces continue their efforts to extinguish the wildfire that broke out yesterday in the Limassol district.

Due to the fire, the following roads remain closed to traffic:

  • Trimiklini – Laneia – Alassa
  • Alassa – Lofou
  • Kanto – Kyvides
  • Agios Amvrosios – Vouni

Drivers wishing to travel from Limassol to Troodos are advised to use the route: Palodia – Paramytha – Gerasa – Kalo Chorio – Agros.
From Troodos to Limassol, the route: Saittas – Agios Mamas – Apaisia – Korfi should be used.

The Kanto exit on the Limassol–Paphos motorway, which was temporarily closed earlier this afternoon, has now reopened to traffic.

Police patrols remain stationed in the following areas:

  • Palodia junction
  • Apaisia junction
  • Monagri junction
  • Trimiklini – Agios Mamas junction
  • Kouka – Pera Pedi junction
  • Pachna – Omodos junction
  • Kanto – Kyvides road
  • Kanto bypass junction
  • Erimi – Kanto junction
  • Road to Kouris Dam (Vounaros area)
  • Saittas

The police urge the public to comply with instructions from officers on duty, as many areas are still considered inaccessible or dangerous due to flare-ups and fallen electricity poles on the roads.
