Cyprus weather conditions are expected to become mostly clear across most parts of the island today after local low cloud, light mist and fog gradually clear.
Forecasters said temporary periods of increased cloud cover are expected during the day. However, from midday onwards, cloud development over mountainous areas could bring isolated showers.
Temperatures remain above seasonal levels
Temperatures are expected to reach around 37°C inland, while western and south-western coastal areas will see highs near 29°C.
Elsewhere along the coast, temperatures are expected to reach around 32°C, while higher mountainous regions will record temperatures close to 30°C.
Winds and sea conditions
Winds will initially be variable and light at around 3 Beaufort before becoming mainly south-westerly to north-westerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Along coastal areas, winds will gradually strengthen to moderate and occasionally strong levels at 4 to 5 Beaufort.
Sea conditions will remain generally slightly rough, although south-eastern and eastern areas will initially be calm to slightly rough.
Tonight and weekend outlook
Tonight, conditions will stay mostly clear, although increased low cloud is expected to develop gradually. Later overnight and during the early morning hours, light mist or fog may form in some areas, mainly in eastern regions and inland locations.
Temperatures overnight are expected to fall to around 22°C inland and along coastal areas, while higher mountain regions may drop to around 18°C.
Looking ahead to Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Cyprus weather will remain mostly clear across most areas with periods of increased cloud. During the afternoon hours, clouds developing over mountainous regions may bring isolated showers.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly through Monday and will remain slightly above normal seasonal averages.
