Warm conditions and dust affect island
Cyprus weather remains unusually warm, with weak high pressure affecting the area, while low pressure is expected to move in from Thursday.
According to the Meteorological Department, dust will be present in the atmosphere at intervals, with concentrations occasionally increasing.
Temperatures rise above seasonal averages
Today, the Cyprus weather will be particularly warm for the season, with increased high clouds and later also medium clouds.
Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to southeast and locally variable in the west, at light to moderate strength, 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the afternoon, winds may strengthen to moderate, 4 Beaufort, mainly in northern, eastern, and southern coastal areas.
The sea will be calm to slightly rough in the west and slightly rough elsewhere. Temperatures will reach around 27°C inland and in the southeast, 25°C on the coasts, and about 21°C in higher mountainous areas.
Mild night with cloud cover
Tonight, Cyprus weather will remain warmer than normal, with continued medium and high cloud cover.
Winds will shift mainly northwest to northeast, and southeast in the north, remaining light at 3 Beaufort and moderate, up to 4 Beaufort, along the coasts. The sea conditions will remain similar.
Temperatures will drop to around 16°C inland and in the mountains, and about 18°C along the coast.
Rain and storms expected from Friday
On Thursday, conditions will stay warm with periods of increased high cloud.
From Friday, a disturbance west of the island will begin to affect Cyprus weather, bringing intervals of cloud cover with local rain and possible thunderstorms.
Winds are expected to strengthen, especially in coastal areas. On Saturday, partly cloudy skies will continue, with local showers and isolated storms initially in the west and gradually across other regions.
Temperatures will rise slightly on Thursday, remaining well above average. A gradual drop is expected on Friday and further on Saturday, bringing temperatures closer to or slightly below seasonal norms.
