Partly cloudy skies with isolated showers
Today, Cyprus weather forecast indicates partly cloudy to mostly cloudy conditions, with scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms expected initially in northern, mountainous, and eastern areas.
As the day progresses, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are likely in southern, western, and mountainous regions. Hail cannot be ruled out in thunderstorms, while the highest peaks of Troodos may see sleet or snow.
Winds, sea, and temperatures
Winds will start from northern directions, light to moderate (3–4 Beaufort), shifting later to southwesterly to northwesterly in southern and western areas, becoming moderate to strong (4–5 Beaufort). The sea will be initially slightly rough, becoming generally slightly rough to rough locally. Temperatures are expected to reach around 18°C inland, 20°C along the coasts, and 9°C in higher mountainous areas.
Tonight and Friday outlook
Tonight, locally increased cloud cover is expected, particularly in the western half of the island, with isolated rain possible. Winds will remain southwest to northwest, light to moderate (3–4 Beaufort), temporarily moderate to strong (4–5 Beaufort) along coasts. Temperatures will drop to around 8°C inland and in southeastern and eastern coastal areas, 12°C elsewhere along the coasts, and 3°C in the highest mountains, where frost may form. The sea will remain slightly rough to rough.
On Friday, partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected with isolated rain mainly in western areas. The island will be influenced by strengthened westerly winds.
Weekend forecast
On Saturday, the weather will become gradually mostly cloudy due to mid- and high-level clouds, with isolated light showers possible, especially in the afternoon and evening. Sunday will bring local rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly after midday. Snow or sleet is likely on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Temperatures on Friday will remain largely unchanged, with a slight rise on Saturday and a small drop on Sunday, staying near seasonal averages. Snow depth at Chionistra stands at 27 cm at the time of this report.
