Cyprus leaders Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman will meet again next week to continue their discussions, the United Nations said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the UN described their latest meeting, held under UN auspices in the UN Protected Area, as constructive. The two leaders continued discussions on confidence-building measures, methodology and substance.
Holguín to visit Cyprus on 29 October
The leaders welcomed the upcoming visit of UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguín, who is expected on the island on 29 October 2026.
They also look forward to holding separate meetings with Holguín, followed by a trilateral meeting scheduled for 9 November.
The meetings form part of ongoing efforts to advance discussions on the Cyprus issue.
Environment and cultural heritage initiatives
Christodoulides and Erhürman agreed to move forward with initiatives relating to the environment and the exchange of cultural objects, according to the UN statement.
Before Holguín’s arrival, the two leaders intend to meet with the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage and the Technical Committee on Youth.
They also plan to meet the Coordinating Committee of the Advisory Board of Civil Society.
The leaders agreed to continue their discussions at next week’s meeting, the UN said.
