Cyprus is in for another hot, sunny day today, with inland temperatures reaching 35°C and more heat on the way.
The Department of Meteorology reports that a weak high-pressure system and a warm air mass are affecting the region. Skies will be mostly clear throughout the day, though passing high clouds may appear at intervals.
Winds will blow south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate (3–4 Beaufort), becoming locally strong (4–5 Beaufort) in the afternoon, especially along the southwestern coast. The sea will be calm to slightly rough, with a few choppier spots later in the day.
Today’s highs:
– 35°C inland
– 27°C west coast
– 28°C north coast
– 31°C other coastal areas
– 24°C in the higher mountains
Tonight: Clear skies continue, with light winds and overnight temperatures dropping to 19°C inland, 20°C on the southeastern and eastern coasts, 17°C elsewhere on the coast, and 14°C in the mountains.
Looking ahead: Friday through Sunday will stay mostly clear, with occasional high clouds. Dust is expected to enter the atmosphere from Sunday onward, and temperatures will rise even further—well above seasonal averages.
