The Cyprus Post data leak is under investigation after a hacker gained access to one of the postal service’s internal systems, Post Director Pavlos Pavlidis said on Mesimeri kai Kati on Tuesday.
Pavlidis clarified that Cyprus Post does not have access to the contents of private letters, so no correspondence could have been compromised.
“What has happened,” he explained, “is that the hacker accessed one of our systems. From the investigation so far, it appears they took screenshots from the system and shared them online. These images show certain package records, photos of parcels, and internal cash collection reports from several branches.”
He added that the investigation is ongoing and that security measures have been reinforced to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Asked about the hacker’s motives, Pavlidis said they remain unknown, noting that no ransom has been demanded.
