The strategy of the Cyprus Post for the transition to electromobility is an essential move towards sustainable development and environmental protection, said the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, regarding the supply of electric vehicles to the Cyprus Post.
According to an announcement, circulated by PIO, after the successful acquisition of electric motorcycles in 2019, Cyprus Post proceeded in 2024 to replace their petrol and diesel vehicles with electric ones.
It is added that in the first phase, they have already included 5 electric cars in their fleet, which are used for their daily activities, while by 2034, a milestone year for compliance with European recommendations, they aim to replace the fleet completely with electric vehicles.
“With this step, Cyprus Post is not only making the responsible choice for the environment, but is actively contributing to Cyprus’ green transition,” it is noted.
In a statement on the issue, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeades, noted that Cyprus Post’s electrification strategy is a “substantial move towards sustainable development and environmental protection”.
“This decision reinforces European efforts to reduce pollutants and improve the quality of life of citizens. We fully support the strengthening of the green transition, and Cyprus Post is an example for other organisations to follow the same path towards a cleaner and more sustainable future,” he concluded.
