Targeted preventive operations continued overnight across urban areas in Cyprus, with increased police presence aimed at preventing serious criminal acts, protecting citizens, and maintaining public order.
Five arrests for various offences
During these operations, the police arrested five individuals: in Nicosia, one person for driving under the influence of alcohol; in Limassol, one person for failing to appear before the court; and in Paphos, two people for fine-related warrants. Additionally, one individual was arrested by the Traffic Police for excessive speeding.
Extensive checks and enforcement
Over 400 vehicles were stopped for inspection during the night, with more than 600 occupants checked. Police also conducted 23 premises inspections to prevent and suppress illegal activities.
Traffic enforcement and penalties
From traffic checks, 121 traffic violations were recorded. Alcohol tests were carried out on 64 drivers, resulting in one violation. Three vehicles were impounded during the investigation of traffic offences.
Ongoing preventive strategy
These operations form part of a broader, ongoing preventive plan by the Cyprus Police, combining increased patrols, targeted checks, and rapid operational action across all districts to reduce crime and enhance citizens’ sense of security.
