Cyprus police continued targeted preventive operations overnight, increasing patrols in key urban areas to prevent serious crimes, protect citizens, and maintain public order.
Seven arrests across major cities
During the operations, authorities arrested seven individuals for various offences:
- Nicosia: One person for illegal possession of drugs and malicious damage; another for driving under the influence of alcohol.
- Larnaca: One person for traffic offences.
- Paphos: Four individuals for illegal possession of drugs, illegal stay in Cyprus, common assault, and failure to appear in court.
Extensive vehicle and premises checks
Police stopped and inspected over 346 vehicles and checked more than 80 occupants. Officers also carried out 26 premises inspections to prevent and suppress illegal activity.
Traffic checks resulted in 124 citations for traffic violations. Authorities conducted 76 alcohol tests on drivers, issuing seven citations, and impounded three vehicles in connection with traffic offences.
Part of ongoing preventive strategy
These operations form part of a broad and ongoing preventive plan, with increased police presence, targeted inspections, and immediate operational action across all districts. The initiative aims to prevent crime and strengthen citizens’ sense of security.
