Cyprus Police arrest 58 illegal migrants in large-scale operation

Cyprus police carried out a large-scale operation on Sunday to identify and arrest third-country nationals residing illegally in the country, authorities announced.

According to a written statement from the police, the operation led to the arrest of 58 individuals of various nationalities who were found to be staying illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.

Of those detained, 20 have already been repatriated, while procedures are underway for the immediate deportation of the remaining 38, in coordination with relevant authorities.

The operation took place in the Limassol district and involved members of the Immigration and Aliens Service, as well as officers from the Green Line Surveillance and Migration Flow Management Unit. The operation began at 5:00 am (local time) and concluded around noon on Sunday.

Authorities say that efforts to locate and repatriate individuals residing illegally in Cyprus are ongoing, with daily enforcement actions.
