Investment and access to the Indian market
The partnership is also creating new opportunities for investment and greater access for Cypriot businesses to the Indian market.
According to the Presidency, Cyprus is already among the 10 largest investor countries in India, with Cypriot investments having doubled over the past decade.
At the same time, the positioning of Cyprus as an important gateway between India and Europe could give Indian businesses access to the European single market, which has more than 450 million consumers.
The strengthening of the EU-India strategic relationship and prospects linked to the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) could further enhance Cyprus’ position on the emerging trade and connectivity map linking India, the Middle East and Europe.
Focus on strategic cooperation
The Presidency said the strengthened relationship covers a wide range of areas with strategic importance for both countries.
These include defence and security, technology and innovation, shipping, education and connectivity, alongside efforts to strengthen economic and investment links.
The Presidency described the relationship as “historical” while stressing its growing strategic depth and tangible benefits for Cyprus.
