Cyprus Independence Day parade time changed

Date:

This year’s military parade marking Cyprus Independence Day on 1 October will take place at 9:00am instead of the usual 11:00am.

According to Defence Ministry spokesperson Christos Pieris, the change was made for a serious reason: President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides is scheduled to travel to Copenhagen later that day to attend the informal summit of EU heads of state.

The 1 October parade is a central part of Independence Day celebrations in Cyprus, traditionally showcasing the National Guard and attended by political and military leadership.
