Cyprus first in EU in youth unemployment reduction

Date:

According to Eurostat data on the reduction of unemployment among young people, the Republic of Cyprus has the best performance and is ranked first among all EU Member States, the Ministry of Labour said in a statement today.

Specifically, it is noted that the unemployment rate of young people under 25 years old in March 2023 was 16.1% and in December 2024 it was reduced to 9.9%, which is the lowest rate since 2008, a decrease of 6.2 percentage points, corresponding to a reduction of 38.5%.

“The achievement of the goal of full employment conditions has a positive impact on the daily life of citizens and the substantial reduction in youth unemployment creates optimistic prospects for the future of the new generation in the labour market,” the statement concludes.
