The biggest gastronomic institution in Cyprus returns once again

The Cyprus Eating Awards, the island’s leading gastronomic institution presented by Nespresso, celebrate 21 years on Cyprus’ dining scene this year, rewarding top restaurants.

Organised by Check In Cyprus, the Cyprus Eating Awards aim to continuously upgrade the quality of local gastronomy while recognising outstanding efforts. Their deep knowledge and long-standing experience make the Cyprus Eating Awards the only Cypriot institution distinguished for its credibility and genuine understanding of the restaurant industry.

Following international standards, the awards carry a great responsibility and consistency towards the public, the restaurateurs, the owners and chefs of the restaurants who seek distinction in the highly competitive field of dining. With professionalism, reliability, top quality of ingredients and services, and fair pricing as guiding principles, the awards discover and reward restaurants that uphold the highest standards of quality dining.

Every year, the categories are adjusted according to the latest trends observed in the restaurant sector, both in Cyprus and abroad. The Check In Cyprus team, with the support of a large committee comprising industry professionals, gastronomy experts, journalists, oenologists, and lovers of fine cuisine, analysed this year’s gastronomic scene of the island. They then finalised the process with online voting to determine the most distinguished restaurants across the country, to be nominated in the competition.

Cyprus Eating Awards 2025 – The 91 nominated restaurants in 17 categories

For 2025, 91 restaurants across 17 categories have been shortlisted, and voting is now open.

The categories are as follows: New Arrival, Fish, Greek Cuisine, Contemporary Cypriot Cuisine, Mediterranean Cuisine, International Cuisine, Asian Cuisine, Grill Bar/Pub, Cocktail-Wine Bar/Restaurant, Summer Venue, Street Culture, Taverna, Souvlaki, Hotel/Resort Restaurant – Luxury Dining, Hotel/Resort Restaurant – Lifestyle Dining, Hotel/Resort Restaurant – Outdoor Dining, and the Check In Special Award 2025, which this year highlights the Contemporary Café.

As every year, one restaurant will also be awarded the “Readers’ Favourite”, chosen directly by the readers of Check In Cyprus, independent of any category. In addition, honorary awards will be given for Cypriot Product of the Year, Sustainability Award, Wine Culture, Best Concept, and Chef of the Year.

To be considered for nomination, each restaurant must meet high quality standards and demonstrate continuous improvement in its services. Evaluation criteria include: quality of food, presentation of dishes, hygiene, atmosphere inside and outside the restaurant, flow of dishes, quality of service, wine list, and the balance between product and price. The evaluation period covered July 2024 to August 2025.

At the same time, tasting panels are formed, tasked with visiting the nominated restaurants incognito for a professional assessment. The combined results of these evaluations, together with reader votes, determine the final winners.

The Cyprus Eating Awards 2025, organised by Check In Cyprus, will culminate in an awards ceremony to be held in February 2026.
