Cyprus carnival weather: showers on Sunday

Date:

Mostly clear conditions before Carnival

Cyprus’ carnival weather will remain mostly stable in the coming days, with weak high pressure affecting the region, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Today, conditions will be mainly clear, although periods of locally increased cloud cover are expected. Winds will initially blow mainly westerly to northwesterly, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, gradually becoming southwesterly to northwesterly, weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort.

The sea will be slight to moderate, and locally rough in the west at first, gradually becoming slight to moderate and moderate in western areas.

Temperatures will rise to around 19°C inland and along the coast, and 8°C in the higher mountains.

Overnight fog and frost in the mountains

Tonight, conditions will remain mostly clear. However, patchy light fog and low cloud may form locally, mainly inland and in eastern areas. Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, weak at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be up to slight.

Temperatures will drop to 5°C inland, around 9°C along the southern and eastern coasts, near 10°C along the western and northern coasts, and around 1°C in the higher mountains, where frost is expected in some areas.

Snow depth at Chionistra was measured at 4 centimetres at the time the bulletin was issued.

Gradual warming before Sunday dip

On Friday and Saturday, periods of locally increased cloud cover will be observed.

Cyprus carnival weather on Sunday will turn partly cloudy, with isolated showers expected at intervals- potentially affecting outdoor carnival events.

Temperatures will gradually rise through Saturday, climbing above average climatic values, before recording a slight drop on Sunday.
