Air traffic at Cyprus airports fell sharply in March 2026, with a 15.3% decline compared to March 2025, according to official data from Hermes Airports. The crisis in the Middle East has significantly impacted tourist flows to the island, ending a streak of consecutive record months.
Passenger numbers fall at Larnaca and Paphos
March passenger traffic dropped to 599,200 from 707,200 in the same month last year. At Larnaca Airport, the number of passengers fell to 415,700 from 501,600, a 17.1% decrease, while Paphos Airport recorded 183,500 passengers, down 10.7% from 205,600.
Quarterly figures highlight decline
For the first quarter of 2026, total air traffic reached 1.8 million passengers, with Larnaca accounting for 1.3 million and Paphos 537,300. The figures reflect the broader slowdown in arrivals amid regional instability and uncertainty.
