Reactions continue to mount against the President following his emergency Sunday address, in which he announced extensive support measures for those affected by the wildfires.
Both DISY and AKEL maintained their strong criticism of the President and the Government — a stance they have taken since day one of the crisis.

“The President’s response was delayed and only taken when absolutely necessary — and even then, an apology in such cases is not enough. There are political responsibilities that should already have been accepted and addressed.
Communication strategies cannot erase the tragic mistakes, the sluggish response, and the lack of coordination — all of which demand explanations.
As for the support measures, which were rightly announced, we are ready to support and even strengthen them where needed. Most importantly, we must ensure that these measures are implemented immediately and do not become entangled in bureaucratic delays.
The people who have suffered do not need words. They need support, care, and safety — along with the assurance that they will never experience such a nightmare again.”

“Responsibilities are left hanging in the air. Accountability is nowhere to be found.
They are incapable of understanding the scale of their responsibility for this disaster. They refused to meet the public’s demand for the resignation or dismissal of the relevant ministers.
We will speak specifically about these responsibilities in Parliament — where the Government won’t be able to deliver a one-sided communication monologue.
We will monitor the restoration of damages and the implementation of the announced measures closely and continuously.
P.S. The President asked to be judged strictly. So far, he and his Government have shown that they neither welcome nor withstand criticism.”
