A weak low-pressure system is affecting Cyprus, bringing unsettled weather conditions on Monday, according to the latest Cyprus weather forecast.
Cloud cover is expected to dominate, with localised rain and isolated thunderstorms developing during the day. Rain will initially affect coastal areas before spreading to mountainous regions and inland areas later on. On the highest peaks of Troodos, sleet or snow may fall.
Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to southeast, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually strengthening along the coast to moderate or strong, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort at times. The sea will be calm to slightly rough at first, becoming generally slightly rough as the day progresses.
Temperatures will rise to around 17°C inland, approximately 18°C along the coast and 8°C in the higher mountainous areas.
Cooler night with possible frost in the mountains
Tonight, the weather will become partly cloudy, with a chance of isolated showers over mountainous areas. Snow or sleet is likely on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Winds will remain mainly northeasterly, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, while the sea will be slightly rough. Temperatures will drop to around 8°C inland, 10°C along the coast and 3°C in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form locally.
Brighter outlook from Tuesday onwards
From Tuesday through Thursday, conditions will improve, with the weather becoming mostly clear. Temperatures are expected to remain close to seasonal averages until Wednesday, with a slight rise forecast on Thursday.
