Limassol, Cyprus – 8 February 2025 – City Friends Club, in collaboration with the Municipality of Polemidia, is calling on 300 volunteers to help restore Polemidia Hill behind the General Hospital, an area that has once again been overwhelmed by waste despite previous cleanup efforts.
This location has become a hotspot for illegal dumping as it is one of the closest areas where people can discreetly dispose of waste without facing fines. Although the site was cleaned in the past, it quickly became polluted again. Following this cleanup, gates will be installed to prevent further dumping, with City Friends Club having exclusive access to maintain the area.
The municipality has already removed 30 truckloads of bulky waste, but much more remains. Since heavy machinery could damage the fragile local ecosystem, a coordinated volunteer effort is the only sustainable solution.

What to wear
Comfortable clothing and weather-appropriate footwear. The area is open, and Cyprus’ winter sun can be strong – hats are recommended.

About City Friends Club
City Friends Club (CFC) actively participates in daily street cleaning, organises community cleanups, and promotes environmental awareness through a range of educational initiatives. Since 2021, the team has been cleaning key locations across Limassol with six trucks and 15 professional cleaners, while also hosting regular monthly cleanups for volunteers and corporate teams in parks, beaches, and other public spaces. The City Friends Club app, available on iOS and Android, allows 800+ users to report illegal dumping sites, track cleanup progress, and earn rewards, helping CFC plan events and analyse pollution trends across Cyprus.
