Christodoulides: Cyprus stands with Greece over deadly fires

President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides has expressed his deep sorrow over the devastating wildfires affecting several areas of Greece.

In a written statement, Christodoulides said Cyprus shares the grief over the loss of life and stands alongside those affected by the deadly fires.

“We are following with pain the destruction unfolding in various areas of Greece due to the deadly wildfires of recent days. We share in mourning for the loss of human lives and our thoughts are with our Greek brothers and sisters who are being tested,” the President said.

Cyprus ready to assist firefighting efforts

Christodoulides added that the Republic of Cyprus remains in constant communication with the Greek Government through the National Coordinator for Civil Protection.

He stressed that Cyprus is ready to contribute to firefighting operations if assistance is requested by Greek authorities.

The statement comes as firefighters continue battling major wildfires across parts of Greece, with authorities working to contain the damage and protect affected communities.
