Car chase in Larnaca ends with arrests and cash seizure

A car chase in Larnaca led to the arrest of five young men early Wednesday morning, after police intercepted a suspicious vehicle and discovered valuables inside. All five are expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court today for a remand hearing.

According to police, the car chase in Larnaca began at approximately 3:00 am, when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that refused to comply. A pursuit followed, ending with the vehicle being stopped and searched. Inside were five foreign nationals- three aged 21, 19, and 18, and two minors aged 17.

The driver faces multiple charges, including driving without a licence, driving without insurance, and other traffic offences.

During the search, officers found two watches and €650 in cash. The suspects failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the items and were arrested for illegal possession of property.

All five remain in custody and will appear in court today for the issuance of a detention order.
