The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, is scheduled to visit the Middle East from November 20 to 24, with a stop in Cyprus.

Meeting with King Abdullah II in Amman, followed by a speech at the University of Jordan under the patronage of Princess Rym Ali. | Meeting with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, followed by a joint press conference. Meetings with Palestinian leaders will also take place. | Travel to Cyprus to participate in an event organised by the Two-State Coalition for Israel/Palestine alongside members of civil society. | Visit to Lebanon, including meetings with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Commander of the Armed Forces Joseph Aoun, and representatives of the UN. |
This visit comes amid heightened tensions due to the dire situation in Gaza and escalating military activity in Lebanon. The objective is to discuss sustainable ceasefire measures for Gaza and Lebanon with regional partners, as well as long-term solutions based on the two-state framework.
