Bolt Food pauses two-wheeled deliveries during heat warning

Date:

Bolt Food deliveries using two-wheeled vehicles have been temporarily suspended in Cyprus as extreme temperatures grip the island.

The company announced that deliveries by motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles and other two-wheeled vehicles will not operate from 12:00 to 16:00 today, in line with emergency measures introduced by the authorities following the Department of Meteorology’s Orange weather warning.

Car deliveries continue

Bolt said deliveries will continue using cars, although customers may experience longer waiting times while the temporary measure is in place.

The company said the decision was taken in compliance with government guidance restricting outdoor work during periods of extreme heat.

It added that it continues to monitor weather conditions and assess official guidance to ensure timely measures are introduced to protect its delivery partners.

Safety remains the priority

Bolt also reminded delivery partners to follow heat protection measures, including:

  • staying well hydrated;
  • taking regular breaks in cool or shaded areas; and
  • avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Company thanks customers and couriers

Bolt Cyprus Country Manager Alexandros Lambrou said the health and safety of the company’s delivery partners remains its highest priority.

He said that during periods of extreme heat, protecting people working on the roads takes precedence over business continuity, which is why Bolt Food deliveries by two-wheeled vehicles have been temporarily suspended during the hottest hours of the day, while deliveries by car continue in accordance with official guidance.

Lambrou thanked delivery partners for their professionalism and customers for their understanding, noting that temporary delays may occur.

He added that Bolt will continue taking all necessary measures to ensure the platform operates responsibly, with safety remaining the company’s primary concern.

The company said two-wheeled deliveries will resume once weather conditions improve and the relevant authorities lift the restrictions.
