Body found at Avdimou beach identified as missing Russian businessman

Authorities have officially identified the body of a man recovered at Avdimou beach following DNA analysis. The British Bases Police confirmed that the deceased is Vladislav Baumgertner, a 53-year-old Russian national residing in Limassol.

The British Bases Police recovered the body from Avdimou beach on 15 January 2026. Relatives had reported Baumgertner missing on 7 January 2026.

Investigation into cause of death continues

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the British Bases Police is investigating the circumstances and causes of death. Authorities have not released further details at this stage.

Officials have informed the deceased’s family, while investigators continue inquiries in line with established procedures.
