Barry Keoghan is set to portray Ringo Starr in four upcoming biographical films about the Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes, as revealed by the “Fab Four” drummer himself.
Ringo Starr discussed the casting choice during a recent interview with ET, saying, “I think it’s great. I believe he’s taking drum lessons somewhere, hopefully not too many!”
However, according to Variety, no official agreements have been finalized for the Beatles biopics, which will be produced with the full approval and licensing of the band’s music rights. Other actors linked to the project include Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Paul Mescal.
Produced by Sony Pictures, the four separate films will “tell interconnecting stories, each from the perspective of one band member.”
Keoghan, who recently starred in Apple TV+’s series Masters of the Air and delivered a standout performance in last year’s film Saltburn, will next appear in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie alongside Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson.
Meanwhile, Ringo Starr returns to his country music roots with a new album titled Look Up, co-produced and co-written with T Bone Burnett.
