Eight US Air Force personnel were aboard a B-52 Stratofortress that crashed shortly after take-off from a base in California, with early assessments indicating there are no survivors.
The US Armed Forces confirmed that the strategic bomber was carrying eight crew members when it went down shortly after departing at around 11:20 local time (21:20 Cyprus time).
The aircraft was scheduled to carry out a routine test mission when the incident occurred shortly after take-off.
Military confirms no survivors expected
The 412th Test Wing, based at Edwards Air Force Base, said in a statement that initial findings indicate no one is expected to have survived the crash.
The aircraft was part of standard operational testing activity conducted by the US Air Force.
Investigation underway
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
Further details have not yet been released as military officials continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
