Autopsy reveals the severity of impact on 19-year-old’s body

The cause of death of 19-year-old Kristina Achilleos, who died early Wednesday on Agia Thekla Avenue in Sotira, was multiple injuries to the body and vital organs resulting from a traffic collision, according to the post-mortem.

Post-mortem confirms fatal injuries

The autopsy was conducted on Thursday by forensic pathologists Angeliki Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou. Achilleos was in a car driven by a 19-year-old, with a 20-year-old passenger in the front and another 19-year-old in the back seat. Under circumstances under investigation, the vehicle collided with a concrete tank wall, fatally injuring Achilleos.

Other passengers hospitalised

The driver and front-seat passenger sustained injuries and were initially taken to Famagusta General Hospital before being transferred to Larnaca General Hospital for further treatment. The second 19-year-old passenger was critically injured and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital. Her condition has now stabilised, and she is expected to move from intensive care to a general ward.

Safety measures observed

Police confirmed that all four occupants were wearing seat belts. The driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs. The Famagusta Traffic Department continues to investigate the circumstances of the Sotira fatal crash.
