Attack in DIPA Limassol offices

Date:

Attackers targeted Democratic Rally (DIPA) offices in Limassol on Saturday, smashing the glass entrance, per Athens.indymedia report reposted by antifazonecy on Instagram 10 January. Claimants from “Anarchic Anti-Corruption Group” link it to the “corruption scandal” – the leaked video alleging Presidential influence peddling.

The statement frames the assault amid alleged political-economic networks tied to Cyprus corruption cases. It rejects state institutions and opposition as failing accountability, decries power as familial-patriarchal, calls for shunning elections and boosting self-organisation.

DIPA condemnation

DIPA unequivocally condemns the attack on its Limassol offices. The party filed complaint, expects authorities to act. “Labelling violence as ‘cleansing’ proves dangerous and unacceptable,” it states.

“Democracy withstands no blackmail, intimidation or silencing. Political contest unfolds through arguments and democratic dialogue – not threats, attacks or destruction.”

Government denouncement

Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis deems the DIPA offices attack and vandalism a direct assault on democracy, duty of all to safeguard. Such acts reject political expression as “violence undermining democratic dialogue and institutional respect.”

“Disagreements voice through reason and argument, not destruction,” he posted on X. Authorities investigate for accountability; all must isolate such practices to protect rule of law and values.
