At least 515 migrants dead in the Mediterranean in 2024

At least 515 people have lost their lives, and 830 others are missing in the Mediterranean from the start of 2024 up until 16 November.

This was announced by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations in its latest update published on the platform X (formerly Twitter).

During the same period, the UN agency clarified that 20,231 migrants intercepted at sea were returned to Libya, including 17,647 men, 1,411 women, 647 minors, and 526 individuals whose gender was not recorded.
