Paphos Police arrested a 41-year-old fugitive wanted for serious offences on Monday, following a pursuit.
According to a statement from the Police Headquarters Communication Branch, members of the police conducted an operation yesterday to locate and arrest the wanted individual, who is under investigation for offences including kidnapping or unlawful deprivation of liberty with intent to secretly and unjustly detain, allegedly committed between 4-6 October 2024 in Limassol.
The 41-year-old man was reportedly seen driving a car in Paphos based on information received.
Police officers from Paphos District located the car parked in Kato Paphos. Two individuals inside the vehicle did not have any identification documents and were therefore arrested to verify their identities. When informed of their arrest, they resisted and attempted to flee, resulting in additional charges of resisting lawful arrest and assaulting police officers.
Subsequent investigations identified the two individuals as 27 and 21-year-old men, who were detained to facilitate further inquiries.
During the investigation, a Paphos CID patrol spotted the wanted man walking in a Paphos area. Upon noticing the officers, the 41-year-old attempted to flee but was intercepted and arrested.
Warning shots were fired during the pursuit to apprehend him.
A search revealed a small quantity of drugs (cocaine) in his possession.
Paphos CID and the Paphos Drug Law Enforcement Unit, in collaboration with Limassol CID, are continuing their investigations.
