Police are investigating a violent armed robbery that took place in Nicosia on Monday evening.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:40pm when a 44-year-old woman answered the door of her apartment. An unknown man, wearing sunglasses and a cap, forced his way inside.
The suspect, who was armed with a knife, assaulted and threatened the woman before seizing a box containing jewellery and a large amount of cash in various banknotes. He then fled the scene in a waiting vehicle, in which two other individuals were reportedly present.
The victim was left shaken but managed to alert authorities. Police officers arrived shortly after and collected statements and evidence from the scene.
Nicosia CID is continuing investigations.
