Messages sent to personnel shortly after 9am

Shortly after 9 am, staff and employees at the Akrotiri Air Base received two internal messages from the British Bases.

The first message instructed personnel to inspect their workplaces and report any suspicious items they might find.

The second message requested staff to undergo identity checks within buildings and to report any presence of unauthorised individuals on site.

Officials confirm routine procedure

A spokesperson for the British Bases told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that the messages formed part of routine preventive measures.
