“_Bam_Boom_” An anti-war theatrical performance at NIF

Date:

The Nicosia International Festival presents “_Bam_Boom_”, an anti-war theatrical performance that evokes the whirlwind of children’s imagination, directed by Marios Kakoullis. The play, which delves into the harrowing reality of war through the eyes of children, will premiere on 18 May 2025 (11:00 & 17:00), at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre and is part of the UNDER30 Program of the 5th Nicosia International Festival… never ends.

In “_Bam_Boom_” two children find themselves trapped in a basement during a war. Despite the terror and chaos, they manage to communicate and connect by harnessing the power of imagination.

Can the sound of a warplane transform into the hum of a fantastical flight among the clouds? Could the booming of bombs bear resemblance to a giant elephant coming to carry them on its back? Might the smoke and sparks of explosions appear like mist in an enchanted forest full of fairies? The horror and despair of war propel their minds to open doors into a frenzied celebration in their own wonderland.

The performance was successfully showcased at “the 12 Coupés” Festival at the New Wagon (Athens) and travelled to the XVI Semana De Teatro Para Niñas Festival (Mexico City).
