Revolut suffers global outage as users face account access issues

Date:

A Revolut outage left some users in Cyprus unable to access their accounts through the app on Tuesday morning, 20 October, as similar problems were reported in other European countries.

Users attempting to open the app encountered a “Something went wrong” error message, advising them to try again later. The extent of the disruption in Cyprus remains unclear.

The UK newspaper Metro also reported that users were unable to access their accounts.

Revolut confirms disruption to multiple services

Revolut acknowledged the technical issue in a post on Reddit, saying that an outage was affecting multiple services and could prevent customers from accessing various features.

“Our engineering team is actively working on fully restoring services as quickly as possible,” the company said, thanking customers for their patience and apologising for the inconvenience.

The company did not specify the cause of the disruption or provide a timeframe for the full restoration of services.

Problems reported across Europe

Similar access problems were reported in Malta, according to MaltaToday, while Ireland’s RTÉ also reported service disruptions.

In the UK, The Sun reported additional complaints from customers whose card payments were being declined in shops.

The impact of the outage on Revolut users in Cyprus has not yet been established. It also remains unclear when all affected services will return to normal.
