Cow milk production: Deliveries rise 2.5% in August

Date:

Cow’s milk deliveries in Cyprus increased by 2.5% in August 2026 compared with the same month last year, according to figures released by the Statistical Service on Monday.

Deliveries reached 25,360 tonnes, up from 24,720 tonnes in August 2025. However, they were slightly lower than the 25,530 tonnes recorded in July 2026.

Drinking milk and cream production decline

Despite the annual increase in cow’s milk deliveries, production of several dairy products declined.

According to the Statistical Service, drinking milk production reached 4,660 tonnes in August 2026, a decrease of 1.3% compared with August 2025.

Production of cream for direct consumption fell by 8% year on year to 340 tonnes.

Cheese production rises by 50%

Meanwhile, production of cheese made exclusively from cow’s milk increased by 50%, rising from 20 tonnes in August 2025 to 30 tonnes in August 2026.

Production of acidified milk products, including fermented milk, declined by 1.3%, from 730 tonnes in August 2025 to 720 tonnes in August 2026.

The latest Cyprus milk production figures therefore show an increase in overall cow’s milk deliveries, alongside mixed trends in the output of individual dairy products.
