Limassol: Three robberies target cyclists, 50-year-old woman injured

Date:

Three robberies were reported in the early hours of Tuesday in Limassol, with cyclists targeted by groups travelling on motorcycles. A 50-year-old woman suffered minor injuries when a suspect pulled her bag, causing her to fall.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the three incidents, which took place in the city during the early morning hours.

Two robberies reported on the same street

In the first case, a 23-year-old man reported that he was cycling along Promachon Eleftherias Street at around 3.30am when two people on a high-powered motorcycle approached him.

The passenger got off the motorcycle and demanded his wallet. Fearing for his safety, the cyclist handed it over. The wallet contained cash and bank cards.

The suspect then pushed the man before getting back on the motorcycle and fleeing with the other individual.

In a second incident, a 20-year-old woman reported being approached on the same street at around the same time, approximately 30 metres from the location of the first robbery.

Six people travelling on three small-engine motorcycles approached her. They were wearing black clothing, helmets and black hoods.

Two of them got off their motorcycles and demanded her money. When she told them she had none, they took her bag, which contained cash and various personal documents, before fleeing the scene.

Woman injured in third robbery

In the third case, a 50-year-old woman reported that she was cycling along Nikou Pattichi Street at around 4.50am when three people travelling on two motorcycles approached her.

The suspects had their faces covered with hoods. One of them pulled her bag, causing her to fall to the ground and suffer minor injuries to her face and hands.

The suspects took the bag, which contained cash, a mobile phone and various other personal belongings.

The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its investigations to identify and locate those responsible.
