Couple tied up in Limassol armed home robbery

Date:

Five masked intruders armed with knives and a handgun allegedly broke into a couple’s home in Limassol in the early hours of the morning, tied up the occupants and stole cash and jewellery from a safe.

According to police, the Limassol armed home robbery was reported by a 36-year-old foreign national, who said she and her 43-year-old husband were asleep when five unidentified individuals entered their property at around 3am.

The suspects, whose faces were covered, were reportedly carrying knives and a handgun.

According to the woman’s account, the intruders restrained and tied up her husband before demanding that she open a safe in their bedroom.

They allegedly took approximately €5,000 in cash and various pieces of gold jewellery, the value of which has yet to be established.

The masked intruders then tied up the 36-year-old woman with adhesive tape before leaving the property.

The couple subsequently managed to free themselves and contacted police at around 7am.

Intruders entered through unsecured window

Police investigations established that the suspects entered the house through a sliding aluminium window.

“It was established that they forced open an aluminium window which was closed but not locked,” police said.

Authorities also confirmed that five individuals were involved in the robbery and that all had their faces concealed by hoods.

Police examine evidence and investigate suspects

Officers attended the property, examined the scene and collected evidence as investigations into the Limassol armed home robbery continue.

“Officers attended the scene, evidence was collected, the scene is being examined and the investigation is in full progress,” police said.

Asked about the suspects’ identities and nationalities, a police spokesperson said investigators had some indications but declined to provide further details at this stage.

“There are some indications regarding the nationality of the perpetrators,” the spokesperson said, adding that it would not be appropriate to elaborate further for the time being.
