A weather change is expected from Wednesday as low pressure moves into the region, bringing local rain and isolated thunderstorms over the coming days.
Rain and storms from Wednesday
The weather will be partly cloudy at times today, with isolated showers or a thunderstorm possible in the afternoon, mainly in mountainous areas and potentially inland.
Winds will be mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually becoming strong at 5 Beaufort on windward coasts. The sea will be slightly rough.
Temperatures will reach around 30°C inland and on the southern and eastern coasts, around 28°C on the western and northern coasts, and 19°C in the highest mountains.
Cooler weather ahead
Tonight, locally increased cloud will be observed at intervals. Winds will become downslope and light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be generally calm to slightly rough, although it will remain slightly rough locally on the western coast.
Temperatures will fall to 17°C inland, around 20°C on the coasts and 11°C in the highest mountains.
From Wednesday through Friday, the weather will be intermittently cloudy, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly after midday.
Hail is possible during thunderstorms, while Friday’s weather could bring locally heavy or prolonged rainfall.
Temperatures to fall below average
Temperatures will gradually decline through Friday, falling below the seasonal average.
The developing Cyprus weather change is expected to bring cooler conditions alongside the increased likelihood of rain and thunderstorms.
