Police are investigating an alleged assault on a 45-year-old teacher outside a primary school in a community in the Paphos district, with a 40-year-old woman arrested in connection with the case.
According to police, the teacher reported that at around 09:45 on Thursday she was verbally confronted by the 40-year-old outside the school where she works before allegedly being struck in the face with a hand.
The teacher told police that she fell to the ground, where she was allegedly kicked. The 40-year-old is also alleged to have broken the prescription glasses she was wearing.
Police investigating financial dispute
According to information under investigation, the two women are believed to have had a financial dispute concerning various items the teacher had purchased from a business belonging to the 40-year-old.
They met outside the school on Thursday morning to discuss and resolve the dispute, according to the information being examined by police.
Following the complaint over the alleged Paphos teacher assault, police arrested the 40-year-old on Thursday afternoon under a court warrant.
She was questioned and taken into custody and is expected to appear before a court on Friday, facing allegations of assault causing actual bodily harm and malicious damage.
She is expected to be charged in writing and summoned to appear before a court at a later date.
Teacher treated at Paphos hospital
Police said the 45-year-old teacher went to Paphos General Hospital following the incident and underwent a series of examinations.
The doctor on duty found that she had bruises and abrasions on various parts of her body.
