Police arrested a 53-year-old man at Paphos Airport upon his arrival in Cyprus after passport checks established that he was wanted by Polish authorities in connection with a fraud case.
The man was placed in custody pending the start of extradition proceedings to Poland and is expected to appear before court today.
Wanted over three offences
The 53-year-old is wanted by Polish authorities in connection with allegations of fraud, money laundering and illegal trading in financial instruments.
The offences are alleged to have been committed in Poland between March 2016 and June 2018.
Polish authorities issued an arrest warrant for the man and, through Interpol, issued a Red Notice on 8 September 2026, placing his details on the database of wanted persons.
Detained following passport check
The man arrived at Paphos Airport yesterday on a flight from abroad.
During passport control in the arrivals area, a police officer established that he was wanted by Polish authorities. A provisional court warrant was subsequently issued, and police arrested and detained him.
He is expected to appear before a court today to begin the judicial process for his extradition to Poland.
