Kyrenia shipwreck: Another body recovered, death toll rises to 14

Another body has been recovered from the sea off the coast of occupied Kyrenia, where search operations are continuing following the deadly maritime accident.

According to Turkish Cypriot media, the body is believed to be that of a man aged between 55 and 60. Identification procedures have already begun.

The latest recovery brings the death toll from the Kyrenia shipwreck to 14, while 14 people remain missing.

Search operations continue around the clock

The development was announced in a written statement by Turkish Cypriot leader Ünal Üstel, who expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.

Üstel said search and rescue operations to locate the remaining missing people were continuing without interruption, around the clock.

In his statement, he said the recovery of the latest body had reduced the number of missing people to 14, while the number of people who lost their lives in the accident had risen to 14.

He extended his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy.
