A police chase ended with the arrest of two young men after a car without number plates was spotted on Ellados Street.
According to initial information, Police officers signalled the driver of the suspicious vehicle to stop. The driver allegedly failed to comply and accelerated, prompting a pursuit.
Car hits other vehicles during chase
During the police chase, the driver allegedly drove recklessly and dangerously, colliding with other vehicles as officers continued their efforts to stop the car.
Objects were also reportedly thrown at police officers during the pursuit.
In an attempt to stop the vehicle and bring the chase to an end, officers fired shots into the air and towards the car’s tyres.
Two Turkish Cypriots arrested
The pursuit ended in the area of the traffic lights, where authorities managed to immobilise the vehicle.
Two Turkish Cypriots, aged 20 and 19, were arrested in connection with the case. According to information, the two are related.
The 20-year-old is believed to have been driving the vehicle and is known to authorities, having allegedly been involved in a similar incident around a month ago.
Both men were arrested and taken for questioning, while Police investigations into the case continue.
