Shooting at rave party in Switzerland leaves one dead and five injured

Police said one person was killed and five others were injured in a shooting overnight during a rave party at a racecourse in the northern Swiss city of Aarau.

The perpetrator or perpetrators remain at large and are being sought by authorities.

According to initial findings, the shooting in the Schachen area of Aarau left one person dead and five injured, some of whom are in serious condition. Aargau cantonal police said investigations are underway to locate the as-yet unidentified suspect or suspects.

“Any possible motive, as well as the exact circumstances of the incident, have not yet been clarified,” police said.

According to the newspaper Blick, the shooting occurred at around 3 a.m. local time during the “Aarauer Rave”, an annual techno party attended by around 3,500 people at the Aarau racecourse. The event runs from early afternoon until 2 a.m.
