The recruitment probe continues on Tuesday, with members of the Police Headquarters investigative team scheduled to take statements from members of the previous Paphos Municipal Council.
The statements are part of an investigation into alleged irregularities concerning recruitments at Paphos Municipality, which reportedly took place mainly between 2019 and 2021.
The interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, 28 July, at the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) offices.
Investigation focuses on hiring procedures
Police sources confirmed to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) a report by Paphos Live that former municipal councillors had received telephone calls requesting their presence before the investigative team handling cases related to Paphos Municipality.
Their statements will focus on the procedures followed during the disputed recruitments and whether the required processes were properly applied.
Complaint submitted in 2022
The investigation follows a complaint submitted in 2022 concerning five recruitments that are alleged to have been carried out illegally.
Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the appointments as part of the ongoing investigation.
