Alleged prison rape: Inmate says “I was asleep, I don’t know if I dreamed it”

Date:

The Ministry of Justice is awaiting the conclusion of an official rape allegation investigation following a complaint filed by a 21-year-old man.

In a statement issued on Sunday night, the Ministry said that initial examinations had not identified findings indicating sexual abuse.

Minister says complaint is being fully examined

Speaking to the state broadcaster, Justice Minister Konstantinos Fytiris said the complaint was being investigated according to established procedures.

He said the complainant had reportedly stated that he was asleep at the time and was unsure whether the incident had occurred or whether he had experienced it while dreaming.

Fytiris stressed that the instructions followed in such cases require immediate investigation.

“A doctor went immediately to examine him. He was examined, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) went immediately to investigate, and I am awaiting the findings,” he said.

Authorities continue inquiries

The Ministry has not drawn final conclusions and is waiting for the completion of the investigation before taking any further steps.

The case remains under examination by the relevant authorities.
