Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, agreed during a telephone conversation on Friday morning on the need to undertake initiatives and actions that could contribute to the de-escalation of the crisis in Syria, according to Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis.

In a written statement with regard to Christodoulides’ telephone conversation with the UAE President, Letymbiotis noted that the two Presidents discussed about the situation in Syria and how it has been evolving, as well as about the possible impact and repercussions for the broader region.

Moreover he said that they also discussed about Cyprus-UAE bilateral relations and ways to further enhance the already upgraded cooperation between the two countries.

“The two leaders agreed to remain in continuous contact following the developments closely,” Letymbiotis concluded.
