Police have arrested an Israeli supporter in connection with an alleged assault on police officers during disturbances outside AEK Arena in Larnaca.
The arrest follows clashes that erupted on Thursday evening ahead of the UEFA Conference League qualifying match between AEK Larnaca and Beitar Jerusalem.
Videos under police examination
At the same time, a video published by an Israeli media outlet appears to show the severe beating of an Israeli supporter outside the stadium.
The footage, along with other videos circulating on social media, is being examined by police as part of the ongoing investigation.
Riot police intervened
The disturbances took place outside AEK Arena before kick-off, prompting police to deploy the force’s crowd-control water cannon vehicle, “Aiantas”, to disperse those involved and restore order.
Investigations into the incidents are continuing.
